Hatha: Great for beginners, or if you prefer very traditional yoga. Hatha poses are held longer than in a traditional flow class (Vinyasa), which allows time for alignment and breath cues. Even if you think you might prefer a faster class, this is a great place to learn how to do the poses safely for YOUR body before heading into a Vinyasa style class. Hatha poses are generally held for 3-5 breaths (vs. Vinyasa/flow where you move with each inhale/exhale).
--Choose Hatha for balance, flexibility and strength
Yin: Great for everyone! Yin focuses on longer-held poses (3-5 minutes) that target your joints, connective tissue and fascia. Yin is newer to the yoga world, but studies are already backing up the health benefits of Yin. You'll definitely feel it!
--Choose Yin for flexibility and joint health (and relaxation)
Still unsure? For flexibility and relaxation choose Yin. If you want a more traditional yoga or are a beginner that prefers a faster pace yoga, choose Hatha. Or, try both!
